Biotin – the vitamin with an authorised hair and skin claim
Biotin (vitamin B7) is one of the few nutrients with an EU-authorised claim for hair and skin: biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal hair and normal skin. We stock two:
- Igennus Pure Biotin 10,000mcg – 180 capsules – €19.80. One small capsule a day, a 6-month supply. Igennus is a UK brand we import directly.
- WeightWorld Biotin Gummies 5,000mcg – 120 gummies – €27.80. For people who do not like capsules.

Silicium G7 – organic silica
Silicium G7 is a Spanish range of organic silicon (silica) products. Silica has no authorised health claim in the EU, so we describe it as what it is: a mineral in liquid and gel form. Silicium G7 Gel with vitamin E 50ml (€15.00) is applied to the skin. The Dynamised 1L drink (€38.00) and the 500ml gel (€45.79) are on order – call us to reserve one.
Plant extracts and seeds
HealthAid Grapeseed Extract (€16.40), Purasana Stinging Nettle capsules (€17.46) and Linwoods cold-milled flaxseed, pumpkin and sunflower seeds (€9.90) are traditional choices. None of these plants has an authorised EU health claim, so we do not say what they do – read the label and ask your pharmacist if unsure. The Linwoods mix is a food, not a supplement: sprinkle it on yoghurt or porridge.

Which supplement is best for hair? We cannot tell you a supplement will make your hair grow – no supplement in the EU is allowed that claim. What we can say is that biotin, zinc and selenium have authorised claims for the maintenance of normal hair. If your hair is falling out more than usual, see your doctor first; it can be a sign of something else.
Biotin capsules or gummies? The Igennus capsules give 10,000mcg per capsule and cost less per day; the WeightWorld gummies give 5,000mcg and taste better. Both are well above the daily reference intake of 50mcg; follow the pack.
