Vitamin B12 and B-complex in Malta – tablets, gummies and oral spray

The B vitamins are the group most often asked about at our counter, and B12 most of all. Vitamin B12 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, to normal energy-yielding metabolism, to normal red blood cell formation and to the normal functioning of the nervous system (EU-authorised claims). B12 is found almost only in animal foods, so vegetarians, vegans and people on certain stomach medicines are the ones who most often need it – a blood test from your GP will tell you.

Which B vitamin should I choose?

• Vitamin B12 tablets – Natures Aid B12 1000 µg, 90 tablets; Igennus Super B12-Complex 1000 µg (methylcobalamin with folate), 180 tablets.
• Vitamin B12 oral spray – BetterYou Boost B12, sprayed in the mouth; useful if you prefer not to swallow tablets.
• Vitamin B12 gummies – WeightWorld B12 methylcobalamin 1000 µg, 120 gummies.
• B-complex – Natures Aid Vitamin B Complex: all eight B vitamins in one tablet. B6 and B1 are also available on their own.
• Biotin (vitamin B7) – Igennus Pure Biotin 10,000 µg and WeightWorld biotin gummies. Biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal hair and normal skin.

Vitamin B FAQ

Methylcobalamin or cyanocobalamin? Both are vitamin B12 and both raise B12 levels. Methylcobalamin is the form found in food; cyanocobalamin is very stable and widely used. Either works for most people.

Can I take B12 every day? Yes – B12 is water-soluble and the body stores what it needs. Follow the dose on the pack and check with your GP or pharmacist if you take medication.

Why is my urine bright yellow after a B-complex? That is riboflavin (B2) leaving the body – normal and harmless.

Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
