Igennus Berberine Phytosome® & Chromium – 60 capsules

Igennus Berberine Phytosome® & Chromium combines 550mg of Berbevis® berberine phytosome with 200mcg of chromium (as chromium picolinate) in one vegan capsule. Chromium is a mineral with authorised EU claims: chromium contributes to normal macronutrient metabolism and to the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels. Berberine itself has no authorised claim, so we describe it as what it is: a plant compound from the root of Indian barberry (Berberis aristata), here in a phytosome form. 60 capsules for €44.95 – 2 months at 1 a day. What is berberine phytosome?

Berbevis® is a patented form made by Indena in which berberine is bound to sunflower lecithin and pea protein. The maker describes it as better absorbed than standard berberine; we repeat that as the maker's description, not as a claim of our own. The phytosome gives 550mg of the complex per capsule, which contains less pure berberine than a 500mg or 1000mg berberine HCl capsule – compare the label, not just the number.

Ingredients

Berbevis® Berberine Phytosome® (Berberis aristata root extract, pea protein, sunflower lecithin, Enovita® grape seed extract), capsule shell (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose), chromium picolinate. No artificial colours or flavours.

How to take

Adults: 1 capsule a day before a meal; up to 2 a day (one before two meals). Do not exceed 2 capsules a day. If you take medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist before use – berberine is known to interact with some medicines. Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Which berberine is right for me?

We stock five. This Igennus capsule and Natroceutics Berberine Complex are the two with chromium (the only ingredient here with an authorised claim). Power of Nature Berbevis® 500mg is the same phytosome form without chromium. Applied Nutrition 1000mg has the most berberine HCl per capsule and WeightWorld 500mg is the lowest price per capsule.
