HealthAid Black Seed Oil is 100% cold-pressed Nigella sativa seed oil — nothing else in the bottle. One teaspoon a day, so the 150 ml bottle is a month's worth, about €0.66 a day.
What black seed oil is
Black seed comes from Nigella sativa, a small flowering plant grown around the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Middle East. The seeds are the little black ones you see on Turkish bread; in Maltese they are ħabbet is-sewda. Pressing them without heat gives a dark golden oil with a strong, warm, peppery taste — closer to oregano and cumin than to olive oil. The oil naturally contains thymoquinone, the compound most often measured in black seed.
Cold pressing is slower and gives less oil than heat or solvent extraction, which is why a small bottle of real cold-pressed oil costs more than a big bottle of blended "black seed" oil. In this one there are no carrier oils and nothing added.

How to take it
Adults: 5 ml (one teaspoon) a day, or as advised by a healthcare professional. You can take it straight from the spoon, but the taste is strong, so most people stir it into a spoon of honey, a few spoons of yoghurt, or a smoothie. Do not exceed the stated dose. Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight.

What does black seed oil taste like?
Strong, warm and peppery — a little like oregano and cumin together, with a bitter finish. It is not a mild oil. If you do not enjoy it neat, mix it with a spoon of honey; that is how most of our customers take it.
Is black seed the same as black cumin?
Yes. Nigella sativa is sold as black seed, black cumin, kalonji or nigella, and in Maltese as ħabbet is-sewda. It is not related to the cumin you cook with, and it is not caraway.
What does black seed oil do?
No health claim has been authorised for black seed in the EU, so we are not allowed to tell you that it does anything — and we would rather say that plainly than write something we cannot stand behind. What we can tell you is what is in the bottle: cold-pressed Nigella sativa seed oil, nothing added, with thymoquinone naturally present. If you have a specific health question, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.
